NKKK conducts all kinds of inspections (including analysis) on the quality and quantity of various liquid materials transported, exported and imported in wide range quantities. It also carries out accurate calibration and related survey of various tankers, tanks, etc. in order to set measuring standards for tanks of various shapes to be used for the transportation and storage of the above liquids.
Applications for the above inspections come from almost all the Japanese interested parties and at the same time, many requests for inspection also come from abroad, including quality and quantity check at the time of discharge as well as loading and NKKK enjoys high reputation in this field.
In this connection, it should be mentioned that NKKK sends staff members to the relative sub committee of ISO (The International Organization for Standardization) and contributes to the standardization by attending international meetings and proposing tank calibration method.
NKKK is the world leading survey organ in the area of the Custody Transfer Measurement of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). In year 2000, the quantity of more than 1,000 LNG shipments arrived at Japanese ports from Alaska, Brunei, Abu Dhabi, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, etc. were certified by NKKK.
NKKK has certified the accuracy of Custody Transfer Measurement Systems on board LNG tankers that carry those shipments. In addition, of the 127 LNG tankers sailing in the world, 99 equip with the tank gauge tables prepared by NKKK.
Kinds of Inspection of Liquid cargoes
- Quality inspection: Sampling, on the-spot analysis and analysis certificate
- Quantity inspection: Inspection on liquids such as bulk oil, bulk chemicals, liquefied gases, residual oil and/or water on board, etc.
- Tank inspection: Inspection on cleanliness, condition of the tank coating, water tightness and air tightness and other tank tests.
- Damage Survey of liquid cargoes
- Consultations for fluid cargoes, and their storage and transportation
- Crude oil, Petroleum and various
- Liquefied gases such as LPG, LNG, inorganic gases, etc
- Pharmaceuticals
- Dangerous and explosive goods
NKKK conducts all sorts of inspections related to the storage, delivery at each stage of transportation, etc. of the above listed goods.
Tank Calibration and related inspection
- Sorts of tanks for transportation: Various tankers and barges such as LNG tanker, LPG tanker, Product tanker, Chemical tanker, tank lorries, tank cars, tank containers, etc
- Sorts of storage tanks: Vertical and horizontal cylindrical, spherical, double shells tanks, etc. on land, including pipelines, flow meter, etc.
- All kinds of measuring equipment: Level gauges, pressure gauges, temperature monitoring system, etc
The above items are conducted in conjunction with the aforementioned cargo inspection and foreign firms often assign this kind of combined inspection.
Computations after tank calibration are dealt with by the modern computer system for quick and accurate calculation, which is appreciated by the clients.
