Scientific Tests and Analysis
Chemical analysis (including physical examination and
assaying) provides data necessary to determine whether or not
the quality and composition of merchandise conform to the
required standards, which is very important to both parties of
the transaction.
The real cause of damage to the merchandise should be
investigated in order to solve the claims for compensation.Questions as to the existence, degree and cause of damage
are answered in many cases by the result of accurate physical
and chemical analysis.
Chemical analysis is, in principle, performed following sampling of merchandise, but NKKK may carry out chemical analysis on samples presented by the clients in respect of some characteristic merchandise, certifying the result with its expert opinion, if any.
Testing in accordance with FSA
On August 30, 1994, NKKK has been appointed by the Minister of Public Welfare to be surveyor to conduct inspection and testing of foodstuffs, additives, instruments, containers and packing under the Food Sanitation Act.
Testing for Fuel Oils under PPQCA
In addition to the above, NKKK has been designated by the Minister of International Trade and Industry as official analyzer under Petroleum ProductsQuality Control Act and is engaged in the analysis as a neutral surveyor with a motto of exactitude and promptitude.
NKKK has three physicochemical laboratories in Yokohama, Osaka and Singapore equipped with:
Automatic X-ray fluorescence spectrometer
Automatic X-ray diffract meter
Plasma emission spectrometer (ICP)
Flame/flameless atomic absorption spectrophotometer
Scanning electron microscope and energy dispersive X-ray analyzer
Automatic gas chromatograph mass spectrometer (GC-MS)
Automatic high-performance liquid chromatograph (HPLC)
Automatic gas chromatograph for LNG
Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometer with microscope (FT-IR)
and other latest facilities and equipment. The expert analysts of these laboratories perform chemical analysis accurately and speedily based on the major standards of the world such as JIS, ASTM, BS, etc, to the satisfaction of their clients. The items handled by the staff in the laboratories are as follows:
Petroleum oils & liquefied gases, petro-chemicals, solvents, foodstuffs, feedstuffs, sugar, agricultural products, metallic ores, nonmetallic ores, rare minerals, metals, solid fuels, etc.
